Marie Laaksonen is an artist with a background in graphic design.

She began her career in Munich, working as a graphic designer with agencies and publishing houses before returning to Finland and moving gradually towards a more personal artistic practice. She works mainly with charcoal, coloured pencil, acrylic and watercolour, with the natural world as a recurring subject.

Her design background can be seen in the way she composes an image – with a strong sense of texture and space.
